National Science Foundation (NSF)
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is a United States government agency that supports fundamental research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering. Its medical counterpart is the National Institutes of Health. With an annual budget of about $6.02 billion (fiscal year 2008), NSF funds approximately 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by the United States' colleges and universities. In some fields, such as mathematics, computer science, economics and the social sciences, NSF is the major source of federal backing.
Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Government of Puerto Rico
El Plan de Reorganización Núm. 4 de 9 de diciembre de 1993, redenomina el Departamento de Recursos Naturales como Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales creado por la Ley 23 de 20 de junio de 1972. Proteger, conservar y administrar los recursos naturales y ambientales del País de forma balanceada para garantizar a las próximas generaciones su disfrute y estimular una mejor calidad de vida.
USDA Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry
The International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) was created in 1939 in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. As a scientific institution, the IITF is committed to research in tropical forestry and the transfer of technologies. To address aspects of physical, social, and economic issues in managing tropical forests, the IITF has more than sixty years of experience in interdisciplinary research. The IITF is involved in partnerships for policy and program coordination with many local government agencies as well as with non-government conservation organizations. A recent and expanding effort provides guidance and financial incentives to local authorities for projects in urban forestry. Research partnerships exist with over fifty institutions. Internationally, staff consultancies and research have occurred in virtually all of the Caribbean Island, Mexico, Central America, South America, and parts of tropical Asia.
World Chelonian Trust
The Mission of the World Chelonian Trust (WCT) is to promote the conservation and assure the survival of all tortoises and freshwater turtles. We will do this by actively supporting in-situ conservation efforts, field research and veterinary research. In addition to this we will provide information and guidance to individuals and organizations to further the successful maintenance and propagation of captive populations. We firmly believe that only by supporting both wild populations and captive propagation can we provide the maximum options for the survival of all Chelonian species.
EPSCoR
The EPSCoR programs identify, develop, and use academic science and technology resources to increase Puerto Rico's research and development competitiveness and support economic growth through innovation in the Jurisdiction's colleges and universities, their science and engineering faculty, and their students. The Puerto Rico EPSCoR program helps create infrastructure to enhance the research capabilities of the Jurisdiction.
Duke University
Duke University is a private research university located in Durham, North Carolina, United States. Founded by Methodists and Quakers in the present-day town of Trinity in 1838, the school moved to Durham in 1892.[7] In 1924, tobacco industrialist James Buchanan Duke established The Duke Endowment, prompting the institution to change its name in honor of his deceased father, Washington Duke.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a scientific agency within the United States Department of Commerce focused on the conditions of the oceans and the atmosphere. NOAA warns of dangerous weather, charts seas and skies, guides the use and protection of ocean and coastal resources, and conducts research to improve understanding and stewardship of the environment. In addition to its civilian employees, NOAA research and operations are supported by 300 uniformed service members who make up the NOAA Corps. The Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere at the Department of Commerce, retired Navy Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, serves as the administrator for NOAA.

The United States Fish and Wildlife Service is a unit of the United States Department of the Interior that is dedicated to managing and preserving wildlife. Units in the Fish and Wildlife Service include: National Wildlife Refuge System, Bird Habitat Conservation, Federal Duck Stamp, National Fish Hatchery System, Endangered Species program
Smithsonian Institution
The Smithsonian Institution (pronounced /smɪθsoʊnɪən/) is an educational and research institute and associated museum complex, administered and funded by the government of the United States and by funds from its endowment, contributions, and profits from its shops and its magazine. Most of its facilities are located in Washington, D.C., but its 19 museums, zoo, and 9 research centers include sites in New York City, Virginia, Panama, and elsewhere. It has over 136 million items in its collections.
Cornell University
Cornell University located in Ithaca, New York, U.S. is a private university with four state-supported statutory or contract colleges. Its two medical campuses are in New York City and Education City, Qatar. Cornell is one of two private land grant universities,[6] and a member of the Ivy League.
University of Washington
The University of Washington, founded in 1861, is a public research university in Seattle, Washington, United States. Also known as Washington and locally as The U or UW (usually pronounced "U-Dub"), it is the largest university in the northwestern United States and the oldest public university on the west coast. The UW maintains three locations, with its flagship campus in Seattle's University District and branch campuses in Tacoma and Bothell. Its operating budget for fiscal year 2005 was $3.1 billion.[4] The university is also a Public Ivy.[
Florida International University
Florida International University, commonly referred to as FIU or Florida International, is a public research university located west of Miami, Florida, in the United States, with its main campus at University Park. Florida International University is a Comprehensive Doctoral Research University with high research activity as determined by the Carnegie Foundation. Florida International University is also the youngest university to be awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter by the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the country's oldest academic honor society. FIU is one of 78 universities nationwide to hold both designations.
Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Cientificas
El Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Científicas (IVIC) es un instituto de investigación científica y de formación de postgrado de Venezuela fundado el 9 de febrero de 1959 por decreto de la Junta de Gobierno, tiene sus orígenes en el Instituto Venezolano de Neurología e Investigaciones Cerebrales (IVNIC) que fundó en 1955 el Doctor Humberto Fernández Morán.

Honey Bees
We share our planet with numerous animal species. Honey bee is a special insect for us. They provided the first sweetener for humans. Honey bees, like us live in a society. Bees also have a division of labor in their society. Honey bees can communicate with each other. Honey bees are an excellent model for studying behavior and other aspects of biology.
Tropical Plant Ecology and Evolution
Studies in our research group varied in scope but most have four main focuses: 1. The effect of invasive species on native biota at various scales of organization with emphasis on Mona Island Reserve, Puerto Rico. 2. Bioconservation in tropical systems with different focuses. 3. Distribution of genetic and morphological variation in tropical plants. 4. Population dynamics of plants with limited distribution. 5. The mechanisms of evolution of floral traits and, in particular, whether traits are currently under the influence of natural selection.
Estacion Experimental Agricola
La EEA ha contribuido al desarrollo de la agricultura de Puerto Rico a través de la investigación científica desde su fundación en el 1910, cuando fue establecida por la Asociación de Productores de Azúcar de Puerto Rico. En 1914 fue cedida al Gobierno de Puerto Rico, en 1933 se transfirió a la Universidad de Puerto Rico y en 1966 se integró al RUM. Desde el 1968, la EEA forma parte del Colego de Ciencias Agrícolas del RUM.
