The College of Natural Sciences of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus was established in 1943, in the city of San Juan in the central northern area of the island. With a large student body, the college provides one of the best educations in science in Latin America with degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Physics.

With its new curriculum leading to a bachelor's in science it offers undergraduate students a broad, solid, cutting-edge education and a variety of research opportunities to help them strengthen their preparation and discover unseen avenues for career development.
High Performance Computer and facilities (HPCf)
The High Performance Computing facility of the University of Puerto Rico, is presently developing a technology and service infrastructure for the research and education community of the University, including the following: 1. Advanced Research Network 2. Core High Performance Computational Resources 3. Services in Support of Users of Computational Resources 4. Standards and Architecture 5. Evaluation of Emerging Technologies Particular emphasis is made in offering computational and technical resources supporting the PR-EPSCoR and PR-INBRE research thrust areas.
The Institute for Tropical Ecosystem Studies (ITES)
Conducts research relevant to the management of natural ecosystems Conducts research relevant to atmospheric chemistry Establishes and maintains long-term experimental and reference studies of ecosystems Applies knowledge gained to develop mechanisms for the restoration of degraded tropical ecosystems Increases public awareness of the importance of natural ecosystems to human welfare through undergraduate and graduate education
